  1. This is fascinating, Deb. I’m assuming – if it’s 1940 – they might have come back via Dunkirk. I know that nurses got caught up in the evacuation, but I’d never thought about drivers. Were they in the Australian/NZ armies at that time or the British?

    • Australian and NZ armies I imagine, as this was from an Australian magazine, 5 October 1940. I understand they were actually under fire during the retreat, still driving and getting more of the wounded. amazing women, weren’t they?
